A handful of countries handled COVID19 well, compared to their peers.

One of them in Germany.

How did they do it?

German Chancellor Angela Markel is a Quantum Scientist.

Angela was best in Math in her class, could speak Russian fluently.

She graduated from high school with the highest rank, Arbitur grade 1.0.

She started a higher-ed journey majoring in Physics.

After MS, she worked at the Institute of Physical Chemistry in Berlin.

During her tenure there, she obtained a Ph.D. in Quantum Chemistry.

But ‘The Iron Lady’ had something more in her mind than research.

She got involved in politics during post-Ph.D. research.

The fall of the Berlin wall was a perfect opportunity for her.

She joined the Democratic Awakening party & got elected from Bundestag during the 1990 federal election.

The rest was history.

She gradually climbed the ladder of success to become Chancellor in 2005.

This scientist’s analytical thinking & well-informed decisions helped Germany avoid COVID disaster compared to other EU peers.
