A Singer Scientist
Brian May, founder of the rock band Queen, dropped out to pursue full-time music career.

Although you’d to choose academia as a first option it’s never the last one.
Brian May, the lead guitarist of English band Queen, is a perfect example.
He is an astrophysicist as well.
Brian started his career enrolling at Imperial College London.
He had a Physics major in which he has a profound interest.
After graduating with B.Sc in 1968, he received an offer for Ph.D.
Sir Bernard Lovell, FRS invited personally to join his lab as a doctoral trainee.
But something else has already piqued his interest, more than physics.
He declined the elite offer to stay at Imperial College London.
He met drummer Roger Taylor while performing with the band Smile.
Brian had co-founded Queen, a London-based band with lead singer Freddie Mercury & Roger Taylor.
He didn’t want to disconnect from Smile.
He started his Ph.D. in 1968 only to drop out in 1971 to become a full-time musician.
Bohemian Rhapsody’s creator Queen was one of the biggest rock bands in the 1980s-90s.
Fun fact? He finally received his Ph.D. in astrophysics in 2007.
